About the project: Based on the beloved 1988 MGM romantic comedy that launched the career of Julia Roberts, Mystic Pizza is a new musical about three working-class girls who navigate the complexities of life, love, and family in a small-town pizza joint serving everyone from the townies to the privileged country club set. And what’s in that secret sauce, you ask? The hits of the 80s and 90s! The hit songs range from “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” to “Hold On” to “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.” After you see the show, take a ride to Mystic, CT, and see the place where it all started! A charming, light-hearted story… and a string of 1980s tunes that will have you reminiscing about big hair, neon colors, and shoulder pads Additional info: Those auditioning should prepare a brief song in the style of the show: ie – not a Rodgers and Hammerstein classic theatre song. You will likely be asked to learn a brief dance combination as well, so please bring appropriate footwear. Readings MAY be done at initial auditions as time allows. Rehearsals will generally be held, Monday thru Thursday evenings, 7 pm to 10 pm, beginning on November 25. Performances will be held in The Kweskin Theatre from January 31 through February 15, 2025.
