About the project: It’s 1927 and Ma Rainey, also known as the "Mother of the Blues," is recording updated versions of some of her classic songs in a run-down studio in Chicago. Passionate and headstrong, Ma Rainey battles to maintain authority over her own music, even as her arrogant trumpet player, Levee, aspires to make a name for himself in the music industry. Additional info: Auditions will consist of reading from sides. Please bring your calendar and be prepared to list all potential conflicts for the rehearsal and performance period. The first read through will tentatively be held Monday, December 30 at 6:30 pm, and rehearsals will generally be held Monday-Friday evenings. This is subject to change depending on the cast’s availability. PERFORMANCES February 14-16 & 20-23, 2025 Thursday-Saturday performances at 7:30 pm Sunday matinees at 2 pm.
