About the project: "With This Ring": A play written specifically with Valentine's Day in mind, With This Ring is the story of a wedding band that travels over five generations and the visceral effect it has on those couples who come to possess it. The ring is first presented to an Irish immigrant by her husband at the turn of the nineteenth century. It then skips a generation in the 1960s as the couple's grandson inherits it, has it inscribed, and presents it to his new wife, before it becomes a point of contention in the mid-80s between an estranged couple contemplating a divorce. At long last it finds its way to an engaged couple in 2007 and a special visitor who is coming from out of state for their wedding. "The Odd Couple": This classic comedy opens as a group of the guys assemble for cards in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it's no wonder that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Unger, who has just been separated from his wife. Fastidious, depressed, and none too tense, Felix seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds, Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together with hilarious results as The Odd Couple is born. Rate: Actors get a mileage stipend, opening evening toast, and a full meal cast party at close of show. Great perks, plus two comp tickets. Additional info: Actors will have the option of auditioning for one or both shows but because the shows run back-to-back, actors who are cast can only do one of the two shows.
