About the project: Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge, 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, to meet a startling array of characters that range from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams… and a soulless marriage. With a small, powerhouse cast and a driving, exquisitely crafted score that runs the gamut of today’s popular music, Songs for a New World is a contemporary song cycle that weaves characters and history together, illuminating the timelessness of self-discovery. Approximate Duration: 2 Hours. Additional info: Callbacks were held by invitation on November 16. Prepare a song from a Broadway musical cut to 60 seconds or less. The time limit will be enforced. Bring a recent headshot – 4×6 color. Be prepared to completely fill out the audition form, including the rehearsal calendar with a list of conflicts between November 20 and January 20. The production team is sacrificing time to be at rehearsals and it is pointless to rehearse with no one there. Be clear on your conflicts.
