Singer Audition for "Wizard Of Oz" Show
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Seeking male and female talent for the "Wizard Of Oz" show. Find other details below. Additional info: See the attachment for more info. Callbacks if needed: Sunday, November 10th, 1 PM. SINGING: Adults prepare a section from a selection from the show or The Great American Songbook that best represents your range (vocal and acting). No longer than 1 minute. DANCE / MOVEMENT: Dance combinations will be taught. Please be prepared for movement by bringing jazz, character, or tennis shoes and wearing comfortable clothes. A hard-soled, closed-toe shoe will be acceptable. Gymnastics is also a plus but not required. Please bring personal calendars and be prepared to list all conflicts (Mondays-Sundays) beginning with Monday, January 6, 2025 – March 2, 2025. Please do not assume that we know when any general holidays are (ie., school breaks, etc) and plan to list those as conflicts if you will be out of town or otherwise engaged. Conflicts must be noted at the audition and will influence casting. Only conflicts noted at the audition will be taken into consideration. No conflicts allowed February 16 – March 2. (Mezzo/Mix) Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and strong-willed, in search of something more. Very strong singer who moves well. Inspired by the film version.
(Baritone) Plucky and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a brain. Strong actor with an honest quality. Strong mover / dancer. Strong baritone to F.
(Baritone/Tenor) Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic. Movement Skills needed. Strong baritone / tenor to G.
(Baritone) A mix of bravado and cowardice. Should move well. Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing. Vocal range: Strong baritone to F.
Character villain with an over-the-top stage presence. Excellent comic actress, has a killer cackle. Sings comically. Must be comfortable flying.
A physical role as the puppeteer for the iconic role of Toto, Dorothy’s dog. Non-singing. At the audition you will be asked to puppeteer.
(Baritone) Strong comic actor, big presence, older father figure with an eccentric flair. Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus. (May double as the EMERALD CITY GUARD). Must be comfortable flying in balloon basket.
(Soprano) Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved. Strong singer. (May also double as AUNT EM) Must be comfortable flying.
Aunt Em is demanding, but loves her niece. Non-singing. (May also double as GLINDA. Singing)
Dorothy’s pleasant and comic uncle. Non-singing. (May double as the EMERALD CITY GUARD. Singing. Baritone)
The little people of Munchkinland. Long oppressed, and happy to be freed, the Munchkins will (mostly) be played by children. Group singing and coordinated movement required. Dance experience is a plus. There are some featured roles among the munchkins, such as The Coroner, The Lollipop Guild, and The Lullaby League and others
