Performers needed for the "Violet" musical. See details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: SYNOPSIS: Set in 1964 in the American South, with the nation on the cusp of radical change. Violet embarks on a journey both literally and metaphorically to heal the wound that has left her scared both physically and emotionally. Violet is a moving musical featuring show-stopping anthems, ranging from American roots to folk to gospel. Created by Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, or Change; Thoroughly Modern Millie; Shrek; Fun Home) and Brian Crawley (A Little Princess) Violet won the Drama Critics’ Circle Award and Lucille Lotrel Award for Best Musical when it premiered Off-Broadway in 1997, and then earned a Tony-nomination in 2014 with the Broadway version starring Sutton Foster. Rate: All roles will be a minimum of $300 per week. Additional info: WHAT TO PREPARE: Prepare assigned songs/sides, and if you're an instrumentalist, bring your instrument (if portable) to showcase your talent. A piano will be provided. PREPARATION: Sides will be provided when your appointment is confirmed. Please prepare the songs/sides provided for the character(s) you are most interested in. Accompaniment by the Musical Director. For any instrument you include on your musical instrument skills list, please bring it with you (if portable) and play a short piece that shows your skill. The piano will be available at the audition. If submitting a video, please do the same. REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE DATES: Rehearsals run March 1-20, 2025, weekday evenings and weekends. The title character, a young North Carolina woman whose face was scarred in a childhood accident. She is stubborn and prickly, but filled with equal parts hope and obsession that she may heal and be made beautiful. Vocal range top: F5; Vocal range bottom: G3

A simple, widowed man who lovingly raises his daughter alone doing the best he can with the little knowledge and resources he has to do so. Stern but friendly, smart but uneducated. Accidentally scars Violet's face while he is chopping wood. Vocal range top: F5; Vocal range bottom: A3
