About the project: "Birdie" is a coming-of-age film about love, loss, and longing, set in the aftermath of the Biafran war. It follows a war-displaced Nigerian family (a mother and her two teenage daughters) in the summer of 1970 as they try to preserve the mirage of family life in the confines of a catholic refugee house in Virginia. As the war comes to a close, their family dynamic is tested by the arrival of another refugee whose quiet presence brings the reality of the war into view and forces them to face what remains of their lives back home. Rate: $50-$100/day, depending on role + meals. Travel expenses are not covered. Please only respond to this casting if you are able to self-report and work as a local.
