About the project: On the streets of Dublin, an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant are drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship and collaboration quickly evolves into a powerful but complicated love story, underscored by emotionally charged music. Featuring all of the magical songs from the critically acclaimed film, including the Oscar-winning "Falling Slowly," this achingly beautiful, joyously uplifting show strikes an unforgettable chord in audiences and speaks to the power of music to connect us all. A show like this only comes around Once. Rate: $300.00 per performer. What to prepare for the preliminary audition: Bring in a 32-bar cut of a self-accompanied song. If you play an instrument that is not conducive to self-accompaniment (i.e., wind instruments) you may prepare a separate excerpt that does not need to be accompanied. If you play multiple instruments please feel free to bring them all! An accompanist will be available, as will a keyboard, electric drum kit, and amp for your use. All auditioners must play a musical instrument. Directors welcome any instruments but are especially seeking: guitar, mandolin, banjo, drums/percussion, violin, cello, bass (upright or electric), piano, accordion. Callbacks will be held on Nov. 13 from 6pm-8:30pm (by invitation). There will be a movement call and auditioners will be given sides to read.
