Cher (fluent in Thai) is a film student in her early twenties currently working at a local cinema in Vancouver. Cher is talkative and lively, but doubtful about her path in filmmaking. She is filled with guilt while reuniting with her mother again.
Cher's mother (fluent in Thai), visiting from Bangkok, embodies the warmth and traditional values of Thai culture. Though loving, she is somewhat distant from Cher's new life in Vancouver, and skeptical about her pursuing filmmaking in a foreign country.
