The company is holding auditions for August Wilson’s awarding winning play "Joe Turner’s Come and Gone" and looking for performers, please see the details below. About the project: Set in a Pittsburgh boarding house in 1911 the ensemble play includes characters who were former slaves and examines the residents experience with racism and discrimination in both the South and North. These characters are in search of their identity. Wilson’s calls it finding “one’s song.” Additional info: Rehearsal start: Sunday, November 10 at 6:30pm Bring hard copies of resume and professional headshot. Recommend all actors to be familiar with the script. Auditions will consist of selected monologues and scenes from the play All actors please bring all conflicts. Joe Turner Come and Gine will be performed February 13 -16

After he is has been kidnapped by white men, he is forced to work on one of “Joe Turner’s “ chain gangs. He arrives at the Holly’s boarding house looking for his wife Martha.

He is a conjure man or root man who dabbles in Voodoo and strong connection with his African culture. He functions as the conscience of the play.

He is a man with good sense of who he is. Born a free man in the North, he owns the boarding house and works and works in a skilled job. He is proper, practical and cautious of everyone, except his wife Bertha.

She is Seth’s wife. She runs the boarding house, cooks and serve the meals. She serves as a sounding board for Seth and the boarding house tenants. She is a mediator between Seth and Bynum, finding value in each man’s perspective. Unlike her husband, she is willing to believe in people’s basic goodness.
