The company is holding auditions for "Bright Star" show and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Inspired by a true story and featuring a Tony nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, Bright Star is a story of love and redemption that takes place in the 1920's and 40's American South. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. With beautiful bluegrass melodies and powerfully moving characters, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion. Additional info: VOCAL AUDITION: Prepare a one-minute cut of a Folk or Bluegrass Song in the style of Bright Star. Please, select a cut that shows off a wide vocal range and strong storytelling ability. Please, provide your own sheet music that is clearly marked for the accompanist. No Acapella auditions will be heard. DANCE AUDITION: Bring comfortable attire to change into for this portion of the audition. Character heels, jazz shoes and comfortable sneakers are permitted. Baggy and loose-fitting clothing is not recommended. Dance auditions will be held at 9:00pm both Preliminary Audition Nights. CALLBACKS: Be prepared to cold read sides from the libretto. Those attending the callbacks will be asked to sing selections from the Bright Star Score. Pleas apply if interested.
