About the project: Logline: In the midst of a chaotic set and a missing actor, it's up to the director to save her production. Synopsis: On a low budget indie film set, Sigourney, the inexperienced director, learns just how chaotic film can be without proper preparations. Her desire to make a successful film is driven by a need to prove her mother wrong about filmmaking being a real job. Write a comment.... The film is put to a screeching halt when Sigounrey learns they had sent their co-star to an abandoned lot instead of the correct location. Sigourney leaves the set to retrieve the second star - Elise - leaving Kurt, the 1st AD to run the set. Sigourney successfully retrieves Elise, returns to the set and redeems an almost failing production. Rate: Union and Non-Union. This will be unpaid, but food, transport and content for demo reels will be provided. Additional information: Film set to shoot in Toronto in mid to late November. 15 Minute Student/Indie Short Film. Sigourney is producer/director. she is passionate, determined and anxious. a recent film school graduate and an aspiring filmmaker, she has her breakthrough role in directing a script. she is resilient and creative but struggles with trust issues and perfectionism. her complex relationship with her mother puts a strain on her ambition but also fuels her to prove her doubters wrong.
He/him, supporting. Kurt is the assistant director. he is anxious, scattered, loyal, and eager. Kurt is a former classmate of sigourney. He has remained loyal to her as a friend and as a colleague. He believes in her more than the rest of the crew.
He/him, supporting. Derek is the lead actor in the indie film Sigourney is directing. He is a diva egotistical and charming. Derek views himself as a big shot after having landed minor roles in commercials and stand-ins on shows. He is very confident in his acting ability, full of pride, and is extremely difficult to work with.
She/her, supporting. Elise is the supporting actor in the indie film, Derek's co-star. She is an ambitious aspiring actor, empathetic, dedicated to her craft, and a bit petty. With a background in theatre, she wants to move to the film scene. Much like Sigourney, she lacks the support of her family in her career.
She/her, supporting. Paula is an experienced camerawoman. She is strong, a team player, and is also fiercely independent. taking a step back from working on big productions, she wants to help aspiring filmmakers. Her temper flares up in heated moments and she isn't keen on finding resolutions.
She/her, supporting. Sigourney's mom is a conservative, reserved, and traditional woman. tough loving and wants what's best for sigourney, she pushes sigourney toward a standard job as she doesn't view the arts/film as a real job. she thinks it is merely playful. She often clashes with sigourney over the subject and the two have a complicated relationship. hard working middle class, she is well educated and thinks highly of herself.
