About the project: Ring in the holidays with a heartwarming twist! Frank Capra’s classic film, “It’s a Wonderful Life” leaps to the stage as a live 1940s radio play. Join us for a nostalgic evening as some of Tampa Bay’s top actors bring the story of George Bailey to life, complete with sound effects and festive cheer. This beloved tale reminds us that no one is a failure who has friends, and that the true meaning of Christmas is richer than any fortune. Rate: All roles are paid. Additional info: In this “Live Radio Play”, all actors will play exaggerated versions of THEMSELVES voicing the characters in the radio reading of It’s A Wonderful Life. Casting for this show is less about ability to mimic any particular voice as it is the ability to bring characters to life in a way that goes beyond the microphone. Actors will also sing commercial radio jingles. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Cold reading sides to be provided onsite. To best prepare for the audition, watch the film It’s A Wonderful Life and familiarize yourself with the characters. The Live Radio Play version will not attempt to reproduce voices or physical attributes of the original actors, but will zoom in on the central cores of these characters, and highlight what makes them so memorable.You will be asked to read with other auditioning actors, and switch up roles. MAKE STRONG CHOICES. Give directors something to work with. And bring your joy. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin the week of Monday, November 11, 2024. Rehearsal hours are typically evenings & weekends 20-24 hrs/wk. Rehearsals will be at TBD. Preview is Thursday, December 5, 2025. Opening night is Friday, December 6, 2025.
