LEAD ROLE - Danny is a union man who's worked with his hands all his life. Family and honest work motivate him. When a cobble occurs at Buckley's Steel mill, Danny's brother is killed and he's left badly burned. Danny's out of commission, now wrestling with physical and mental trauma from the accident. He's beginning to unravel, turning to pills and booze to ease the pain of his injuries and the loss of his brother.
CENTRAL ROLE - Allan Tucker is the devil you know; a cunning emotional manipulator. Slender, sharp-featured, and well-dressed, he leads a double life as a tenured detective within the VPD and a corrupt cop on Martin Davroni's payroll. He'll do whatever it takes to protect Davroni and maintain his facade, regardless of whether he needs to act as judge, jury, or executioner.
CENTRAL ROLE - Sadie Latlow is a warm, loving mother whose life has been shattered by the loss of her husband Bill. Without a job, she's put in the dire position of a single mother, fiercely protecting her two young children. She holds a deep hatred for Martin Davroni and the Steelworker's Union as a whole, believing that workplace mismanagement resulted in her husband's death and that the union wants to keep her quiet with money to prevent legal action.
CENTRAL ROLE - Martin Davroni is the shady head of the Vancouver Steelworkers Union Local 68. He's worked his way up from a laborer to a mill manager, to a cozy leather chair in the VSU head office. A capitalist at heart, he rapidly climbed the political ladder by ensuring that he missed no opportunity, legal or illegal, that could grow his influence.
SUPPORTING ROLE - A prototypical, sarcastic, grizzled, seen-it-all police detective. Richard "Rick" Tusak is called in to lead a murder investigation- some poor schmuck shot dead at a Vancouver steel mill. Unemotional, results-driven, and hoping for an early beachside retirement, Detective Tusak (joined by rookie cop Collin Guerrero, and trusted detective Allan Tucker) is praying for an open-and-shut investigation into Danny Latlow's death.
