Sweet, yet tough girl, engaged to Francesco "Frankie" Giovanni. She met Frankie through a childhood friend Johnny LaGuardia. Frankie went to a Catholic boy school with Johnny. Angel and Frankie dated for five years and decided to get married and open a restaurant with her parents Carmela and Luciano.
Angel's mother, tough and domineering. Carmella married Luciano Pasquale at 16 years old. Both were only children and their parents arranged the wedding to tie the two neighborhood businesses, a grocery and deli together. Both have always wanted a restaurant and were happy when their daughter started dating a wealthy butcher's son,
Angel's father, tough, a strong front, but passive. Luciano had one baby girl and devoted his life to making her happy. He always said "Dream, baby, dream". I pity the person who tries to ground my little Angel.
Tina is tough and streetwise and was Angel's best friend. She is also Angels' maid of honor for the wedding, Tina had a crush on Frankie when she first met him, but he spurned her affection, to date Angel instead. Angel never knew that Frankie had told Tina on several occasions, that if he and Angel ever stop dating, she would be the first to know. Tina, poor girl, works as a secretary for Roxie's family and has heard the rumors about Frankie and Roxie, but will never tell Angel.
Tough exterior, but a real charmer. Frankie's best man. Johnny always loved Angel for as long as he can remember. Although Frankie was his best friend at school, Johnny always wished that he could have been Angel's boyfriend, but to her, he is like the brother she never had.
Tough, rough, loud, street-wise. Roxy was invited to the reception by Luciano. Frankie's mother always thought, that Roxy's family which owns a large insurance company, with three lawyers, two doctors, and a judge, would be better for Frankie to marry into. Roxie is the last child and the only girl in a family with five children. She is used to getting her way and never having anyone say NO to her. Imagine her dismay when Frankie said NO and married Angel instead of her.
Luciano's tough, aging, crotchety, senile, mother. (Angel's Grandma). Nonna lives with the family and knows a lot of what goes on behind the scenes, although she may not reveal all that she knows. She is subject to random bursts of Italian swear words and praying also. She is conniving and loving all at the same time...watch out for her. Everyone tries to appease her and when they do she reacts with big Italian gestures.
Sweet and kind yet assertive. The neighborhood priest who performed the wedding ceremony and is known to get tipsy at the rectory as well as at all the receptions he attends. He has known Angel and Frankie since they were children, as they both attended the parochial school and church. He has always been very fond of Angel...maybe too fond.
