About the project: The short film centers around a gay man in his final therapy session, reminiscing on all of the trauma of homophobia he’s endured to reach the place of self-love he is in today. Lead.The protagonist of the story. A gay man coming to terms with his dark past. Kind, generous, but also deeply traumatized from homophobia and its various consequences on society. Slightly desperate to find love with another partner, but this stems from his own insecurities and traumas. Tendency to be a hot head from all he has dealt with. Supporting. Theo’s therapist for the past 2-3 years. Supportive of Theo’s spiritual journey, Dr. Rozz assumes almost an omniscient figure for Theo. Dr. Rozz guides Theo through his revelations of his traumatic experiences with homophobia, pushing him to the right direction of self-love and care. Supporting. Theo’s ex-boyfriend. An aspiring Family and Marriage Counselor, Christian embodies the worst of toxic gay culture. Christian is divided between his feelings for Theo, and saving face for his family, fearing losing them over his sexuality. Christian’s drug and alcohol abuse issues also contribute to significant behavioral problems, further deteriorating his relationship with Theo. Supporting. Theo’s former best friend from college. Kathryn fetishizes and mistreats Theo as if she were his accessory (i.e. her “gay best friend”), causing Theo substantial discomfort and emotional pain as evident in his therapy sessions.
