Casting for a lead role and a supporting role for "Of a Feather" a student thesis film, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENTS WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: The film is a lyrical romantic drama that follows two close friends--a Chinese translator and a Korean-American artist--as they navigate through insecurities and heartbreak following the return of an old flame and an encounter with an up-and-coming poet. Rate: Food will be provided on set, and any transportation/travel costs will be reimbursed. $100-$150 Additional info: Filming will take place in Boston from October 25th-27th, and from December 17th-21st. (non-binary, lead): A Korean-American postgraduate artist who now finds themself adrift in life. Pensive but also prone to melancholy, they feel increasingly hollow and unmotivated when their former crush shows up in town. They are a massive fan of Virginia Woolf--especially her novel Orlando (whose protagonist they strongly identify with). They like to wander around and be immersed in nature, which becomes a place of refuge for them following a bout of heartbreak.
(supporting): An up-and-coming poet. Astute and introspective, but unable to make significant progress on her writing due to a busy work schedule, Aurelia can't help but feel like she has become a one-hit wonder. After meeting Camren--a Chinese graduate student who is translating Aurelia's first poetry collection--Aurelia finds a kindred spirit and mentee whose creative and identity struggles are not just reminiscent of her own, but are somehow inspiring as well.
