Male-identified character. A struggling rock singer and guitarist, Dewey is energetic, funny, and a bit immature. He impersonates his friend Ned Schneebly to get a substitute teaching job and eventually transforms the students into a rock band. Rock tenor. MUST PLAY GUITAR.
Female-identified character. The strict and uptight principal of Horace Green School. Beneath her stern exterior, she loves rock music and has a soft spot for Dewey. Soprano.
Male-identified character. Dewey's roommate and a former rocker who now works as a substitute teacher. He is controlled by his girlfriend Patty but is generally good-natured and supportive of Dewey. Baritone.
Female-identified character. Ned's domineering girlfriend who disapproves of Dewey's influence on Ned and his rock lifestyle. Mezzo-Soprano.
