A struggling writer who cannot stand, but is secretly quite jealous of, Shakespeare. He risks everything just to prove he’s the best. Nigel’s older brother Baritone/Tenor
Nick’s sweet and naive younger brother, amazing but unconfident poet and writer. Falls in love with Portia, a Puritan Tenor
The Bard. Over the top with a huge ego. A Renaissance rock star and sex symbol. Can’t stand that someone (Nick) is trying to take his spot as the best there is Baritone/Tenor
Nick’s wife. She loves Nick despite his past lack of success. Dresses up like a man to prove not only that she can act, she is more than capable of handling the duties of a man Soprano
A Puritan woman who loves poetry, theater, and ultimately Nigel. Torn between her father (Brother Jeremiah) and religion, and the joy and freedom offered by art and Nigel Soprano
A soothsayer, the nephew of the more famous Nostradamus - often mostly probably kind of correct, sort of. Big personality to back up his big predictions Baritone
Portia's father. A Puritan who thinks Nick and Nigel's plays are sinful. Any plays are sinful. Music is sinful. Everyone else is sinful…except himself Baritone
A posh patron of the theater. Pompous but terrified of falling out of line
An avid theater enthusiast and investor to whom Nick and Nigel are in debt. Tevye, if he were a rich man
Our narrator and storyteller. Plays the Lute. Joyfull, energetic, and attention grabbing (only second to Shakespeare in this regard) Tenor
TOM SNOUT, ROBIN, PETER QUINCE, SNUG, FRANCIS FLUTE, HORATIO - Capable, enthusiastic, but nervous troupe of actors trying to perform Nick and Nigel’s plays (can be played in drag) Baritone/Tenor
