Theater Casting Call for "2024 Killer Verse" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Searching for performers who will portray roles in production of "2024 Killer Verse". More details are below. About the play: Killer Verse is a Dramatized Narration of Stories submitted by authors in the Community. This is a fun evening of spooky stories read by a narrator and dramatized by a small group of actors. This year's production will follow a throughline of a group of college kids getting together to tell spooky stories in the woods. Rate: Non-Union. Volunteer. Each actor will receive an honorarium of 150$. Additional information: Shoot/Performance Date(s) October 19th. Shoot/Performance Location(s) North Delta. Submission Deadline September 17, 2024. The production has minimal props, and minimal costuming. Actors will be supported by a stage manager and a small backstage crew. Actors will be required to do some light improv storytelling, blocking/movement work as well as read (from a script provided (no memorization required) 2-3 spooky stories. There will be 2-3 out-of-studio rehearsals (Possibly over Zoom), an in-person dress and tech rehearsal the Thursday and Friday before the show, as well as a final run-through the morning of the performance. (Total 5-6 rehersals). When applying, please submit your name, age, which characters you are interested in, and any relevant background training (dance, mime, theatre, etc) a video of you reading the attached excerpt from a previous year's Killer verse and a video of you performing movement to the attached audio file. This movement can include dance, mime, blocking, or any other interpretive body movement.

Jazz is a prankster who loves scarring their friends. Jazz will be reading from their phone stories they "found on the internet".
Matt organized the event. He is really into horror stories. Matt will be reading from a notebook story he "wrote himself".
Winnie brought the booze for the event. She is very afraid of spooky stories, this is not her thing. She brought stories she found online about birds. She likes birds and beer.
"Moose" was surprised to be invited to this hangout by their younger classmates. They love horror stories and brought books full of horror stories to share. They drove the truck and owned all the camping gear.
Toula is the youngest of the group. She is very into spooky stories and has a surprise planned. There is a high possibility this character will be doing pre-recorded readings in addition to reading stories live. If so, is character will have a slightly larger honorarium due to the extra workload.
