About the project: Project Overview: "The Last Trace" is an indie short film set against the backdrop of a desolate, barren world. A young woman is the sole survivor of a research center which had been studying the mysterious rapid deterioration of the planet. Alone, with only her trusted AI implant as a companion, Era grapples with the idea of the years of isolation that are surely to come, until one day a glimmer of hope appears. The story explores themes of survival, memory, and the importance of human connection as we follow the protagonist, Era, navigating her loneliness and grief in a world where she's been left to fend for herself. Rate: This is a non-union, non-paid project. Food, accommodation, and travel expenses will be covered. Additional information: BC residence is preferred. Location: Osoyoos and remote BC areas with specific landscapes required by the story. Some interior scenes will be located in Victoria. Shooting Dates: Directors tentatively selected a weekend between September 21-30, 2024. Flexibility will be key, as some roles may be needed for specific shots on specific dates. "Orion" - AI CharacterMale25-55 y.o.All ethnicities

Principal. The AI character is a crucial presence in Era's life, providing guidance, conversation, and a semblance of companionship in an otherwise empty world. The AI should exude a calm, composed demeanor with a slightly synthetic yet reassuring tone. Requirements: The actor must be fluent in both Mandarin and English. Experience with voice acting or the ability to modulate the voice to sound slightly synthetic is a plus.

"Era's Mother"Female35-55 y.o.All ethnicities

Supporting. Era's mother appears in Era's memories, depicted in silhouette or through fragmented, dreamlike sequences. She represents the warmth, love, and emotional anchor in Era’s life, contrasting with the cold, harsh reality Era faces. Requirements: The actress should be able to convey deep emotion and maternal warmth, even with minimal screen time and without relying on physical expressions. Most of her scenes will involve subtle body language and voice work.

ExtrasBoth genders18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Era’s Colleagues. These characters are Era’s colleagues with whom she's shared some of her sweetest memories. They are depicted in flashbacks, showing camaraderie, collaboration, and friendship. Requirements: Actors should be able to portray a sense of connection and warmth in group settings, as well as convey the emotional weight of their impending fate. These roles require expressive acting to communicate the depth of their relationships with Era.
