Description:

Auditions for "Oliver" musical. Seeking cast. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart's classic musical based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike. The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family. Additional info: When you arrive, you will be asked to fill out an audition form. Please come with a list of your potential rehearsal conflicts. We will be seeing people in the order that they arrive and appointments are not necessary. Once you are called in, you will be asked to sing a song of your choice. Please come prepared with a selected song and bring sheet music with you. Directors prefer musical theatre songs that are not from the show. Piano accompaniment will be provided. You may also audition without a prepared song if you are interested in non-singing roles only. Some actors may be asked to read sides at auditions, which will be provided to you. PERFORMANCES: February 8 and 9 at B'nai Tzedek No rehearsals/performances will take place during any Jewish Holiday. If you are interested, please apply.
