Audition for the Musical "Shrek"
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ADMITTED. The musical "Shrek" is looking for singers. More details are below. Rate: This production is a non-Equity, non-paying production. Additional information: Production Dates: April 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 2025. Production Venue: Abbotsford. Rehearsals will be in Abbotsford with vocal/acting Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning September 23. Choreography rehearsals will be held on Sundays, start date TBA. Title character, big, green, terrifying ogre, lives alone on a swamp. Embarks on a journey to rid his land of fairytale creatures and, along the way, falls in love with Fiona. Begins as a grumpy hermit, but reveals his layers and becomes the hero. Scottish Accent required. Vocal range: G#4 to A2.
Beautiful princess who transforms into an ogre every night. Rescued by Shrek and eventually falls in love with him. Quirky, blunt, funny and multitalented, she is not an ordinary princess. Tap dance experience is preferred but not required. Vocal range: G5 to F3.
Talking donkey who joins Shrek on the run from Farquaad's guards. A chatterbox, not deterred by Shrek's looks and practically forces himself into his good graces. Easily frightened and pushy, but an optimist with heart. Vocal range: B4 to C3.
Comically short, ruthless ruler of Duloc. In search of a princess to marry. Has an intensely unfair bias against fairytale creatures that stems from a resentment of his father. Self-absorbed, lonely, and cruel. Performance will be entirely on knees with padding. Vocal range: D5 to B2.
Charged with guarding Princess Fiona. Imposing and flirtatious, but tired of her job as the glorified baby-sitter. Vocal range: Eb5 to F3.
Gingerbread man initially kidnapped by Lord Farquaad, has the wit and resolution to avoid trouble and inspire the other creatures. Puppet. Can be operated by actress appearing as Sugar Plum Fairy. Vocal range top: C#5 to B3.
Leader of the fairytale creatures. An animated puppet whose nose grows when he lies. Plenty of sass with a penchant for lying. Somewhat high pitched voice. Vocal range top: F#4 to E3.
