Singing Audition for Upcoming Play
Talent needed for the upcoming theatre play "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Additional info: WHAT TO PREPARE Please bring a headshot and/or resume, if you have one. Please prepare 16-32 bars of an upbeat song in the style of the show - but NOT from the show itself. Please bring sheet music for your song (in the appropriate key) with you to the audition; an accompanist will be provided. Please bring your calendar with you to the auditions in order to declare any scheduling conflicts between September 22 and December 22. Please arrive fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled audition time to complete audition forms. Callbacks, if needed, will be held on Tuesday, September 17. REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, September 22 will run Sunday - Thursday evenings (6:00-9:00 p.m.). Cast members will only be called for rehearsal when needed. Technical rehearsals are mandatory and take place: Thursday, November 14: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, November 16: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 17: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, November 18: 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday, November 19: 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday, November 20: 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat runs for a total of 22 performances from November 21 to December 22, 2024. This includes 2 weekday, daytime performances at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, and Tuesday, December 10. Tenor or Soprano - The audience's guide(s) through the story. The narrator(s) tell(s) Joseph's story with word and song. Can command the stage while directing focus to story elements. Strong singer(s) with great energy.
Baritone- Egypt's ruler, considered a god on earth. Searching for the meaning behind his dreams. Portrayed as a world-famous rock star. Full of energy and confidence. May also be cast as a member of the greater ensemble.
Baritone - Rich, self-indulgent, and sophisticated Egyptian capitalist. Makes Joseph the leader of his household. Strong character actor with a powerful speaking voice. May also be cast as a member of the greater ensemble.
Alto - Indulgent and confident in her pursuit of what she wants, which at this time happens to be Joseph. Moves suggestively. May also be cast as a member of the greater ensemble. Intimacy Proposal: Mrs. Potiphar may have an intimate exchange with Joseph where she grabs and/or touches him above the waist.
Baritone - Aged father of Joseph and his 11 brothers. Strong character actor who can sing and move well.
Tenor or Mezzo - Pharaoh's right hand. While in jail, Joseph interprets the Butler's dreams to a positive outcome. May also be cast as a member of the greater ensemble.
Tenor or Mezzo - Head of Pharaoh's kitchen. While in jail, Joseph interprets the Baker's dreams to a less-than-positive outcome. May also be cast as a member of the greater ensemble.
