About the project: A Christmas Carol is a delightfully reimagined take on Dickens’ enduring classic. A miserly and miserable man, Ebenezer Scrooge, greets each Christmas with a “bah humbug,” until he is visited one miraculous Christmas Eve by the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future. Join us as Scrooge visits the Overshadowed theatre, where the audience will be surrounded by magical ghosts, festive cheer, and of course…snow! Scrooge’s story of redemption remains as powerful and uplifting as it ever was. Additional info: Rehearsal Information: Thursday, September 19, 2024. Measurements will be taken on this date. Overshadowed rehearsal times are usually M/T/Th/F evenings and Saturday mornings. Saturday, November 16 & 23, may extend longer if needed. Please note: will not necessarily rehearse 5 days per week every week for the entire rehearsal process. Please check your calendar and let directors know your conflict dates when you cannot attend a rehearsal so they can schedule rehearsals for specific scenes to minimize conflicts. A miserly, miserable businessman who hates Christmas, and most people
A ghost - Scrooge’s deceased business partner, regretful of lost opportunities, who arrives to give Scrooge a chance at redemption
Scrooge’s long-suffering clerk, a kind and gentle man, devoted to his family, especially his son, Tiny Tim
A ghost - the embodiment of Father Christmas - merry, jovial, spreading cheer throughout the world - shows Scrooge what he is missing in his present life
A ghost - a shrouded figure of doom, who shows Scrooge his frightening future - no dialogue, but a powerful presence in the story (May double this track with other speaking roles)
Narrator of the story, ambitious, workaholic, as he reads the story to his children he sees a reflection of himself in Scrooge
Narrator’s wife, devoted to her family, but lovingly stands up to her husband and helps guide him to make a change
Scrooge’s nephew, good natured, jovial, takes Scrooge’s insults and rejection with good humor and patience
Wife of Fred, kind-hearted and fun-loving; She does struggle with how Scrooge treats her husband
Cratchit’s supportive wife and mother of their large brood
Scrooge’s past employer - a fun-loving, gregarious man with a tremendous sense of humor (Will need to be comfortable moving in a dance)
Wife of Fezziwig- a fun-loving woman with a big personality (Will need to be comfortable moving in a dance)
Portrays Scrooge as a younger man who is first unchanged and loves life. We see this Scrooge begin to change his values (Will need to be comfortable moving in a dance)
Ebenezer’s best friend, an outgoing and confident young man
Young Man Scrooge’s caring, sympathetic fiancee, who comes to realize that Ebenezer loves money more than he loves her (Will need to be comfortable moving in a dance)
