About the project: “This timeless, captivating story is brought to life in this glorious musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love…Based on Louisa May Alcott's life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.” Additional info: CALLBACKS: Callbacks will be by invitation only and held Wednesday, September 25th from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. AUDITION REQUIREMENTS Please arrive 15 min early to get parked and sign in Dress professionally Bring a current headshot and resume. Bring a list of conflicts from September 28, 2024 - October 26, 2024. Conflicts during tech week and performances will not be accepted. Two contrasting 32-bar cuts (or 60-second cuts) in the style of the show. Bring sheet music properly marked and in the desired key. An accompanist will be provided. Rehearsal Dates: September 28th - October 31st. Rehearsals will typically run Monday-Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal. Lead, Adult, Vocal Range: Soprano, A#3 - Gb5 The world-weary, yet hopeful, oldest sister who yearns for a great life. She marries John and has twins with him. Will double as Clarissa in Jo’s stories. Will kiss Mr. John Brooke onstage.
Lead, Teen/Adult, Vocal Range: Lyrical Soprano, A3 - G5 The second youngest sister who tragically dies of Scarlet Fever. Peace-maker, lover, and an optimist who is always encouraging her sisters to dream. Will double as Rodrigo II in Jo’s stories.
Lead, Teen/Adult, Vocal Range: Mezzo Soprano, -1 - Gb5 The youngest, most energetic sister with a rather pompous air about her. She later marries Laurie. Will double as the Troll in Jo’s stories.
Supporting, Adult, Vocal Range: Alto, Eb3 - Eb5 The girls' mother. She is the strong backbone of the family, who is courageous in spite of the difficult odds she faces.
Supporting, Adult, Vocal Range: Tenor, Bb2 - Bb4 The bright-eyed boy-next-door with considerable charm. He loves Jo but later falls in love with Amy. Will double as Rodrigo in Jo’s stories. Will kiss Jo March onstage.
Supporting, Adult, Vocal Range: Baritone, G2 - F#4 German Professor who exemplifies proper manners. He is a boarder in Mrs. Kirk's boarding house and eventually falls in love with Jo. Will kiss Jo March onstage.
Featured, Adult, Vocal Range: Alto, E3 - F5 A formidable, overbearing matron and great-aunt to the March sisters. The wealthy socialite in town. Will double as the Hag in Jo’s stories.
Featured, Adult, Vocal Range: Tenor, C#3 - F#4 Laurie's tutor and a rather stiff man; shows very little emotion. He later marries Meg and changes. Will double as Braxton in Jo’s stories. Will kiss Meg March onstage.
Featured, Adult, Vocal Range: Baritone, D3 - D4 Laurie’s grandfather. Stern, patrician, and straight-laced. Eventually forms a sweet and meaningful friendship with Beth March and gives her a piano as a surprise. Will double as the Knight in Jo’s stories.
