About the project: (Ngortak) follows Yangzom, a young woman from Bhutan and her journey to the western world, Where she seeks to fulfill her dreams. However, upon arriving in the bustling city, Yangzom finds herself lost and disconnected from what this new world has to offer. Desperate to belong and conform to Western standards, Yangzom undergoes a transformation, altering her appearance and shedding her Bhutanese roots in an attempt to fit in. But despite her efforts, she still feels empty and unfulfilled, realizing that changing who she is for the sake of acceptance is not the answer. Determined to rediscover her true self, Yangzom embarks on a journey of self-discovery, reconciling her past with her present. Along the way, she learns valuable lessons about resilience, cultural identity, and the importance of staying true to oneself. As she recalls her close bond with her mother, Yangzom confronts the woman she had become inorder to find the one she had left behind. Additional information: Non union.
