"The Man Who Came to Dinner" Play In Search Of Cast

Boulder, CO, United States
ID: 266817Exp: 8/10/2024
Description:

Auditions for "The Man Who Came to Dinner" play. Actors needed. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: A brief synopsis: Sheridan Whiteside, a famously cranky but beloved radio celebrity, slips on the ice after attending dinner at an Ohio home. Forced to recuperate in place with a broken hip, he proceeds to turn that home upside down with the unbridled glee of an egomaniac. The Man Who Came to Dinner is a brilliantly witty comedy. It’s filled with fascinating characters, romantic intrigue, penguins, movie stars, and insults galore. This classic of the American Theater was written in 1939 and made into a film in 1942. It has been seen continuously on stages across the world ever since. Rate: All roles are unpaid. Additional info: The show opens Friday October 25 and runs through November 10th. Directors will begin rehearsals the last week of August. You must be available for run-throughs from October 7th through the opening. Auditions will be cold readings from the script. They do not book appointments. If you wish to present a monologue that will be OK, but not necessary. A formal resumé is also not necessary. This is a community theater and not an ensemble. Company focuses is on giving older adults the creative opportunities to perform. That said, the casts are frequently intergenerational. For this show, directors will need one young woman (18-20) and two young men (20-25). It will be staged as a “live radio show” where actors can read from their scripts. The energy will be high for this production. Company encourages non-traditional casting. Directors do not discriminate on the basis of sex, gender, age, race, ethnicity, disability or beliefs. They may cast a man in a “woman’s role” and vice versa. If you are interested, please apply.
