Talent Wanted for 2024-2025 Season Shows

Suburban wife and mother. She has bipolar disorder which interferes with her ability to to function and care for herself. This complicates her relationships with her husband, daughter, son, and most paramount, herself. She is deep in grief, caught in the turbulence of treatments and side effects, all the while desperate to feel like herself again. Father to Gabe and Natalie, Diana’s husband. Though a constant in Diana’s tumultuous life, he has grown tired and weary of her antics and often feels caught. Vocal range: high baritone. "NEXT TO NORMAL"

Diana & Dan's son. He is everything a mother could imagine. Has a presence that is persistent, powerful, and tender at times. One moment is demanding to be seen and heard while the next he is gently asking for attention. Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: B2 "NEXT TO NORMAL"

Natalie is Diana and Dan’s daughter, and Gabe’s sister. Bright, talented pianist, with a side of angsty teen that is often pushed aside in order for the family to care for her mother. Music is her escape from the instability at home. G5 Vocal range bottom: G3 "NEXT TO NORMAL"

Natalie's classmate. The all-around musician, philosopher, and slacker. Henry sees Natalie and plays an important role in her ability to express any feeling about her family. B4 Vocal range bottom: G#2 "NEXT TO NORMAL"

Diana's psychiatrist. Quite assured in their practice and considered somewhat of a rock star. Vocal range top: A4 Vocal range bottom: A2 "NEXT TO NORMAL"

1930’s Leading Man. Suave, dashing and debonair. He is witty, intelligent and resourceful. Has a British accent and is adept at physical comedy. Possesses stamina enough to perform on stage for the entirety of the show. Male identifying character; "THE 39 STEPS"

Primarily the 1930’s ingenue but also doubles as a Russian spy and a Scottish farmer’s wife. Comfortable with physical comedy and confident with applicable accents. Female identifying character; "THE 39 STEPS"

The two clowns portray over 150 roles over the course of the play and are essentially EVERYONE that the two leads are not. Physically agile and have the endurance to be present on stage for the majority of the show and change quickly between characters. Should be able to create and perform distinct characterizations through use of accents and vocals. Comedic timing is ESSENTIAL! All gender identifying characters; "THE 39 STEPS"

(vocal range: low B flat to high B) – Female identified. Cynical about love and fed up with the behavior of the men in her world. She experiences her feelings in bold and is often lightning quick to act on them. "THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA"

Lyman and Polly’s adult daughter. She is a professional writer who has been living in New York after a mental breakdown. Her tortured relationship with her family has centered on her opposing Liberal political views. “An attractive and dry woman.” "OTHER DESERT CITIES"

Brooke’s brother. Witty and self-effacing. He is a TV producer for reality TV – in a family obsessed with his intellectual, older sister’s mental health. He assumes the role of second banana with grace. “A bright, funny man.” "OTHER DESERT CITIES"

Polly’s sister. Creative, fragile, and funny. A former B movie writer, and the Bohemian, polar opposite of her sister. She is fresh out of rehab and repays the support of the conservative Wyeths by joining Brooke in some liberal needling of her parents. “A mess. No makeup, hair disheveled.
