Auditions for Musical "Oliver"
Performers needed for "Oliver" Musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Rate: No pay. Additional info: Please prepare a brief song (under one minute) in the style of the show (singing from the show is ok). Please bring sheet music in the correct key. A capella singing is discouraged, and Bluetooth/mobile devices with backing tracks will not be permitted. Non-Equity. Rehearsals are generally Mon-Thurs evenings and Sundays 3-8 pm. Actors will not be needed every day until we get closer to opening. Required sitz probe rehearsal (sing-through with the orchestra) will occur on Nov 3 starting around 1 pm. All tech rehearsals are required and will take place the evenings of Sun Nov 3-7. Rehearsals will begin on or around Sun Sep 22 @ 3 pm. The show will run November 8-17. Eccentric, middle-aged leader of a children’s band of thieves. Cockney accent. He’s a career criminal; a personable yet devious con man; a sly fox who takes in homeless children and teaches them to pick pockets for him. Depending on scenes, he can be a leader, a vagrant, a father, a teacher, and a lost soul. Vocal range: Baritone or Tenor B3-Fb5
Former member of Fagin’s gang, now a “barmaid” at the Three Cripples Bar. Cockney accent. In an abusive relationship with Bill Sykes. Pretty, intelligent, a hardened, career thief; streetwise but also good-hearted and longs for a better life. A mother figure to Fagin's gang Vocal range: Alto E3-B4 (a good belt)
Worked for Fagin as a youth, now a feared master criminal. Cockney accent. Good looking in a rough way, he’s Nancy's brutal and abusive boyfriend; a fearsome, sociopathic killer who only looks out for himself. Vocal range: Baritone/Bass C#3-C4
Domineering Master of the Workhouse. Cockney accent. Pompous, greedy, corrupt and uncaring bureaucrat. He preaches Christian morality, but lacks compassion for those is his care. Good comedic timing. Vocal range: Baritone/High Tenor C3-A4
Mistress of the Workhouse. Cockney accent. Sharp-tongued, corrupt and domineering widow who will do anything to get Mr. Bumble’s attention. A comic role. Vocal range: Soprano C4-E5 (soprano belt)
The somewhat creepy undertaker. Cockney accent. He “buys” Oliver from Bumble to work in the funeral home as a coffin follower, Stingy & controlled by his wife. May be an alcoholic. Comic relief. Vocal range: Baritone Bb3-F4
The undertaker’s wife. Cockney accent. More business savvy than her husband, she rules the roost. Stingy and mean-spirited. Comic relief. Vocal range: Alto or Soprano Bb4-F5
Mr. Sowerberry’s apprentice who bullies Oliver; Cockney accent, non-singing role, 7could double with ensemble.
