Singing Audition for "Pippin" Play

Cookstown, ON, Canada
ID: 266604Exp: 9/11/2024
online audition
Description:

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ADMITTED. Directors are currently in search of singers for musical "Pippin". More details are below. About the musical: Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the un-extraordinary moments that happen every day. Equally as poignant as a black-box production as a splashy, spectacle-driven extravaganza, Pippin’s message is universal and will connect with audiences across the age spectrum. Additional information: Performances: Nine performances of PIPPIN are scheduled between May 2 – 18, with evening performances Friday & Saturday 7:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. matinees on Sundays. NB: All applicants MUST be available for all dress rehearsals and performances. Final auditions and callbacks on the evening of Friday, September 13 (7:00 – 9:30 p.m.). If you are unavailable for these dates, you may submit a Video Audition by Wednesday, September 11 at 5 pm. Where: Cookstown, ON. SHOW DATES: May 2-18, 2025 on Friday/Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Please prepare a 32-bar cut of two contrasting musical theatre songs that show off your voice and personality. Directors may only ask to hear one song, but please have both prepared in their entirety in case the team wants to hear more from you. While it is recommended that you bring sheet music in your key for the accompanist (double-sided, hole-punched and in a binder please) you are also welcome to bring pre-recorded accompaniment. They will provide an accompanist and a speaker for playback. Directors strongly recommend that no one sings without accompaniment (a cappella). After you sing you will be asked to stay for a short group movement audition; please wear comfortable footwear (no sandals or flip-flops). When applying, please submit your contact phone number. Please, put “PIPPIN AUDITIONS” in the subject line.
