Acting Audition in "Crow City" Film

About the project: Overview - Crow City is a wry, Generation-X take on 'The Big Chill' set in East Vancouver amid the out-of-control housing market. Synopsis - The friends first moved to East Van in the nineties, back when it was still an 'ethnic' neighborhood, as they attended university and favored themselves as 'bohemian' left-wing radicals. After graduating and starting their careers they stayed and built their lives here. As time progressed and they crept into the middle classes and middle age, they remained a tight group, or so they insisted, even calling themselves 'the east van crows', a reference to the Crow Highway that flies over Commercial Drive each night. They declared that they were friends for life. Until one day a particularly beautiful house on a particularly desirable side-street was listed for sale, and each of them was determined that they would sacrifice anything to own it. Rate: Non union. Participants in Crow City will be compensated for their performances. Additional information: AUDITION LOCATION TBD in Vancouver. SHOOT/PERFORMANCE DATE(S) Late Spring/Early Summer 2025. SHOOT/PERFORMANCE LOCATION(S) Various locations in East Vancouver. Crow City is a relationship drama and most characters have intimate scenes. Summary: Chloe is a successful social entrepreneur who has been fighting her whole life against the idea that being an Asian woman relegates her to being a housewife. In university she became involved in women's rights movements, particularly those in developing countries. She met Walter and eventually they married and have a daughter.

Summary: Jerome is a part-time social worker who mainly lives off the income from a house he inherited when he was in his twenties. Raised by a hard-nosed single father who preached hard work and self-sacrifice, Jerome rebelled by embracing new age spirituality and self-focused wellness practices.
Bohemian-painter meets rich-guy. Has intimate scenes. Rossi runs a successful design firm, having commercialized his skills as an art school graduate in painting. Despite coming from a wealthy family and his own financial success, he likes to cultivate a bohemian painter persona.
Handsome. Fit. ‘Grey Fox’. Has intimate scenes. Walter is a stay-at-home dad, husband to Chloe, and formerly the drummer in a band that almost made it big. He met Chloe at one of their shows and they began dating seriously and eventually got married. The band had a hard time making a second album and went on hiatus. Chloe's business began taking off and she became pregnant, and Walter assumed more of the home duties after their daughter was born.
Serious. Professorial. Gay. Has intimate scenes. Martin is a teacher of media studies at a local college, and the publisher of an academic journal that critiques corporate news media. He came out as gay when he was in university and soon became involved in AIDS-era advocacy work. While the journal and his work are well respected, it has never been particularly lucrative work. He met Bruce at a friend's wedding and they have been a couple for almost ten years.
ADDITIONAL CHARACTER. Funky style. Well liked. Jokes a lot. Grant is a documentary filmmaker. He was raised in a working-class Ukrainian family and has a strong social conscience and made a modest career making social issues films. He wants respect from his friends for the work he does. He wants to be funny and is often telling jokes or funny stories.
ADDITIONAL CHARACTER. Beautiful, sharp, jaded. Has intimate scenes. Cassy is an attractive young bartender who manages Infinite Juiced, a late-night drinking hole where she receives a lot of attention from male patrons. After several bad experiences with men, she became more cautious about her romantic affairs, wary of only being valued for her sexuality.
