Talent Wanted for Staged Reading of "Merchant of Venice"
Seeking actors for roles in a staged reading of a new musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s "Merchant of Venice", please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Rate: $500 Additional info: This darkly comedic reworking of the original reexamines Shakespeare’s work through a modern critical lens. With lots of original songs (think Sweeney Todd and Heathers in a blender)!! This production will consist of two parts: recording demos for all the musical numbers (working with the Composer/Music Director), and a two-week run (8 shows total) in early November. This will be a staged reading with blocking (books in hand, music memorized). Rehearsals Begin: September 4, 2024 Shows: October 30-November 3; November 7-10, all evening shows (except Sundays) Venue: TBC Callbacks will be held Saturday, August 3 between 10am-5pm in Capitol Hill and will consist of a quick-study musical excerpt as well as 2 sides.
