"The Outsider" Stage Play In Need Of Actors
Auditions for play "The Outsider". Searching for cast. Please see more info below. About the project: "Ned Newley is an unassuming, earnest, and honorable man who finds himself thrust in the Governor’s seat in the wake of a recent political scandal. His moral standards – and his deathly fear of public speaking – make it likely that he won’t stay in office long. Luckily, he has a savvy political team intent on lending their talents … for better or worse. The Outsider is a timely and hilarious satire of modern American politics that both roasts the political machine and celebrates democracy." Additional info: All roles are available, and all ages will be considered. Sides from the script are attached. You may attend both evenings, but priority on Monday will be given to new auditioners. A show calendar will be available at auditions. Ensure you list any schedule conflicts on your audition form (see attachment). You may complete the audition form prior to attending. Copies will be available on site. Headshots and resumes are welcome but not required. Performance dates: October 4-6, 9-13, 16-19. If you are interested, please apply.
7 roles
A professional pollster. A smart, confident, capable woman with a professional’s view of politics.
The Chief of Staff to the new Governor. Very smart, but — despite his years of experience in government — endearingly earnest and naive on the subject of politics.
A temporary employee hired as the governor’s executive assistant. Personable, likable, impressively confident, and entirely inept.
The new governor. A person of impressive ability, but a complete lack of confidence. A man waiting permission to enter a room in which he is already standing.
One of the most experienced and successful political consultants in the country. Can be seen as overbearing; he’s a showman, but his excitement is genuine and contagious.
A TV reporter. Straight-forward, intelligent, honest, and inquisitive. Has been in the business long enough to be cynical at times.
A TV camera man. A working man, and — for most people — the guy you didn’t notice was there. His near-silence doesn’t make him seem unfriendly, just a bit of a mystery.
