Singing Opportunities in "Rent" Show
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Directors are currently looking for singers for the production of "Rent". More details are below. About the musical: Set in the East Village of New York City and based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's RENT follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished artists and musicians struggling to create and survive, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS in the early 1990s. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, relationships and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this innovative musical. Additional information: Performance Dates: March 11-15 2025. Rehearsals to begin: Late September. Cast size: 15-17 people. Performers will be asked to sing a verse and chorus from a Rock, Soul or R&B song of their choosing. Initial auditions will be sung without accompaniment (a keyboard will be available for finding your key). You may be supplied with additional audition materials when contacted for scheduling. Note: RENT contains mature content, including explicit language, substance abuse, intimate scenes, and sexual themes. As such, all auditioning actors must be at least 19 years of age without exception, acknowledging the adult nature of the production. Experience is an asset but not a requirement. If you're interested, please apply.
