14 roles
(Male identifying): Bass-Baritone. Smooth-talking con man and traveling salesman with plenty of charm. Commanding presence, romantic lead. Confident solo singer/performer. Some dancing ability.
(Female identifying); Soprano: Low G to High A. Probably the smartest, most practical person in River City, and completely under appreciated. Great strength of will, romantic lead (the driest cynics are secretly romantics). Strong acting, solo singing and dancing skills.
(Female identifying); Mezzo Soprano: A flat to E flat. Tough, practical, loving mother, with traditional ideas about relationship roles – and a soft spot for smooth talkers. Traditionally played with an Irish accent.
(Male identifying); Tenor: G to High A. Energetic, big personality; can deliver a punchline. Solo singing and capable dancer a plus.
(Male identifying); Bass, Baritone, Baritone, Tenor. Four successful, bickering, local businessmen who happen to sound amazing when you put them together just right. Some fun character work, and a great opportunity to be part of that top notch barbershop group you always dreamed of!
(Male identifying). Rules the political and legal comings and goings of River City; blustery, pompous, suspicious… and was probably not the valedictorian of his class. May not need to sing.
(Female identifying); Alto: D – D. Rules the social comings and goings of River City. Knows everyone in town, member (possibly chairperson) of every auxiliary organization. Some may say that she struts like a peacock. Imagine “One Grecian Urn…”
(Male identifying). Experienced salesman – he’s loud, he’s self-assured, he’s abrasive and he’s right (though nobody wants to hear it…)
(Male identifying). Tough troublemaker from the wrong side of the tracks (River City version). Gains his own confidence, with the help of Harold, and eventually the confidence of every kid in town. Surprisingly excellent dancer, considering his upbringing.
(Female identifying). Giggly teen with a crush on bad boy Tommy. Learning to stand up for herself, but… with those parents…? An excellent dancer.
