Musical Audition in "Sweeney Todd" Show
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers for a fall production of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street". More details are below. Additional information: Performers are asked to prepare one of the listed songs below to perform for their audition. Note: If you’re auditioning for the Beggarwoman or Ensemble, please prepare ALL music cuts listed for that character for your audition. Performers are asked to learn the choreography from the video provided that they will perform during the dance call. ON AUDITION DAY: – Arrive 5-10 minutes before your selected audition time. – Please wear clothing you feel comfortable moving in. – You will likely be nervous, but that’s okay. If you mess up, you can always start again. – Performers will individually perform their selected songs for the audition panel. – Once everyone has sung, all performers will perform the dance call material as a group for the audition panel. – You should expect to be at your audition for an hour. – If you are needed for callbacks on Tuesday (25th) or Thursday (27th), the producer will connect with you via email. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, June 25th or Thursday, June 27th. Callback material will be posted shortly. After signing up for your audition time slot, performers will receive a confirmation email. Vocal Range: F2 – Gb4. (Song – Epiphany. Bar: 17 – 44). A wrongfully imprisoned barber seeking to right the wrongs committed against them. They are Johanna’s parent, singularly focused on taking bloody revenge. The story’s tormented protagonist.
Vocal Range: G3 – E5. (Song: Worst Pies in London. Bar: 1 – downbeat of 39). An entrepreneurial and amoral meat pie shop owner. They fall in love with Todd and turn their desire for revenge into a profitable business venture.
Vocal Range: Bb2 – F4. (Song: Ah, Miss. Bar: 1 – 39). A naive and youthful sailor returning to London. They help Todd return to London and unexpectedly falls in love with Johanna.
Vocal Range: Bb3 – A5. (Song: Green Finch and Linnet Bird. Bar: 1 -36). A spritely girl, full of innocence, constantly yearning for freedom. Todd’s long-lost daughter and Turpin’s ward.
Vocal Range: Bb2 – Ab4. (Song: Pirelli’s Miracle Elixir. Bar: 7 – 56). A poor youngster apprenticed to Pirelli. They find a surrogate family in Todd and Lovett.
Vocal Range: E2 – Gb4. (Song: Johanna Bar: 14- 81). WARNING: Sensitive subject matter: Looking for actors to discover the inner turmoil of the song. No Flagellation, please. A lecherous public official who portrays themselves as a sanctimonious authoritarian. They take advantage of their position in the city and is responsible for imprisoning Todd.
