Equity Performers Required For 2024-25 LORT Season Shows
Seeking Equity actors for roles in Theatre's 2024-25 LORT Season. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See breakdown below. About the project: "ROSIE IS RED AND EVERYBODY IS BLUE" SYNOPSIS: Rosie seems to be living the proverb: “when it rains, it pours.” Her brother-in-law is living in her small house, driving her up one wall and down the other. To make matters worse, her down- and-out adult son has moved in too. Al this while Rosie secretly battles her own problems and emotions, just trying to make it through each day. Filled with sharp, witty banter, this fast-paced and heartfelt comedy about family will have audiences in tears – both happy and heartwarming. Rate: LORT Non-Rep $807 weekly minimum (LORT D) Additional info: No roles will be understudied. PREPARATION Please prepare a contemporary, short monologue (1-2 minutes). Actors who wish to audition for ONCE should perform a short selection of the song of their choice, accompanying themselves on guitar, violin, accordion or any of the instruments listed on the breakdown below (except percussion). No accompanist will be provided, but there will be a piano in the room. (Please see ONCE breakdown for instrumentation). Also, please bring your headshot and resume stapled together. Male presenting. A big personality; head chef of a small struggling Park Slope restaurant; he is an arrogant, passionate, and hot-headed chef. It’s all about him – or more precisely, his food, what he decides to put on the menu and how to run his kitchen, and it just might be to the detriment of the business. For Harry, if it’s not about the right ingredients, the right food, then it’s not a part of his reality. Basic (or more) chef skills, especially knife (chopping etc.), a plus. "SEARED"
Male presenting. The admin/money man of a small struggling Park Slope restaurant – & one of the waiters; he’s on his last nerve, bit of hope, & money – having sunk it all into the business. Secretly wishing he was the chef; Mike’s forte is for the business side of the biz – but the well is running dry. He’ll do whatever it takes, call it common sense to those in the restaurant business, to make the restaurant a success. Mike is not a pushover, but he struggles to “keep Harry in line”. "SEARED"

A New Yorker by birth; Rodney’s been a waiter with Harry and Mike since they opened - all while absorbing Chef Harry’s recipes and skills; he’s loyal to the restaurant – and to both Harry and Mike – and will step in when and where needed; it’s not just about the money for Rodney, it’s about the success of the restaurant and being a part of that. A large and in charge personality; a consultant to small businesses hired to help them survive and thrive, and she does it well; Emily’s the take charge type, in fact, she’ll take over if you let her; she wants to help, knows she can help, and doesn’t suffer fools while she’s helping. Male presenting. Dr. Timothy Cratchit - Tiny Tim, all grown up. refined English accent; Mr. Topper - pompous, easily irritated; Ralph Fezziwig - A nervous, wiry young man. The black sheep of a proud family. Engaged to Fannie. Constable Bradstreet - A seemingly upstanding member of Scotland Yard. A comic chameleon with great physical comedy skills, verbal & physical dexterity, comic timing. Experience with Victorian language. Standard English & Cockney accents. "A SHERLOCK CAROL"
Male presenting. Tthe middle brother, hot-headed and decisive; also plays Herbert Lehman, Lewis Glucksman, and other characters of various ages, genders and circumstances. Role requires verbal and physical dexterity, emotional range, vocal variety and control, physical & vocal stamina. Bavarian accent. (The play is 3 hours long; no 2-show days). "THE LEHMAN TRILOGY"
Female presenting. Rosie, a no-nonsense mother and widow, is strong, opinionated, loving, and a bit stubborn. A hard worker, and member of the working-class, as a school bus driver, Rosie has seen it all. She’s maternal with street smarts and a big heart that is hidden at times by a gruff exterior. While Rosie will help those in need, she has a hard time asking for help for herself. "ROSIE IS RED AND EVERYBODY IS BLUE"

Male presenting. Rosie’s Son. Chris is a good young man at an impasse in his life and struggling to get back on his feet. Male presenting. Rosie’s brother-in-law. Lenny is an easy going and simple man. Currently living with Rosie, he’d like to help her out, but will she let him? "ROSIE IS RED AND EVERYBODY IS BLUE"
Female presenting. Vocal range top: B4, Vocal range bottom: F#3. An attractive, determined and witty dreamer, who has special insight into people, perhaps an ethereal, ‘other’ quality. Hard-working, the Girl has come from the Czech Republic to Dublin for a new life. She is passionate about playing the piano and making music. Plays the piano and sings extremely well.
