(Woman/Non-Binary)A patrician/nobleman, highly regarded in society. Somewhat reserved and outwardly stoic, he is churning inside always. He has an aristocratic air but can also be kind and warm. Brutus is an intellectual and idealist who prizes honor and leads with logic, A principled man of deep conscience and integrity, who truly loves Rome, he believes that the assassination is necessary for the greater good of the people. "JULIUS CAESAR"
(Woman/Non-Binary)A patrician/nobleman. A master of rhetorical argument, shrewd, strategic and brilliantly persuasive, Cassius is the architect of the plot for the assassination of Caesar. Driven by ambition and jealousy perhaps more than patriotism, he persuades Brutus to join in the plot. He is also an experienced soldier in the field. "JULIUS CAESAR"
(Woman/Non-Binary) A decorated military leader, the most powerful man in Rome. A bully and a narcissist, he's made all the more dangerous by being on a downward trajectory physically: he is past his prime and feels it. We should believe that if he were to be in power he would indeed become a dictator. "JULIUS CAESAR"
(Woman/Non-Binary)A charismatic playboy and a jock, one of Caesar's closest companions. He is not a great judge of character -- he underestimates Cassius but in turn is underestimated by the conspirators, deftly rousing up the crowd against the conspirators after Caesar's death. He’s a tough, experienced and brutal soldier whose ambition comes bursting through in the second half of the play. "JULIUS CAESAR"
(Woman/Non-Binary) Portia: Brutus' wife. Of a noble family, she is smart, bold, courageous and carries herself with dignity and strength. She is, fiercely loyal and highly capable and wants to be an equal partner to Brutus. After the war breaks out she kills herself by eating fire, out of desperation. Flavius: A tribune. He's a rule follower, imperious and patronizing. He is incensed that the people are not working but celebrating Caesar instead. "JULIUS CAESAR"
(Woman/Non-Binary) Caesar's wife. A woman who has subsumed her life to her partner, she carries a strong inner strength which has helped her survive. She is perceptive and intuitive with strong convictions but also pragmatic and sturdy: she uncharacteristically loses her composure on the day of Caesar's assassination fearing for his life. "JULIUS CAESAR"
A conspirator. Ambitious, manipulative, quick thinking, psychologically keen he knows how to exploit and play on the weakness of others. He persuades Caesar to go to the capitol despite his wife's pleas using flattery and appealing to Caesar's male ego. Lower in status than the other conspirators/senators, he is eager to prove himself. "JULIUS CAESAR"
Soothsayer: genderless, an ethereal but tortured presence. Lives on the streets by their own wits. They are tormented by visions that they cannot avoid. Possibly sings. Octavius -- Julius Caesar's nephew, becomes one of the ruling Triumvirate after the assassination. He young, ambitious, driven. Quick tempered and arrogant, he's not as experienced in war as Mark Antony but eager to be in command. "JULIUS CAESAR"
A conspirator. A rising young politician, he's opportunistic, cynical, elitist and a climber, a political operative -- somewhat hot headed and impulsive. He disdains the populace and is also somewhat of a misanthrope. "JULIUS CAESAR"
(Woman/Non-Binary) A conspirator -- a loyal foot soldier, smart and capable, he's charged with distracting Mark Anthony during the murder of Caesar. Level-headed and reliable, he's a steady balancing presence in the group. He is truly driven by a desire to restore Rome’s former glory. "JULIUS CAESAR"
Lepidus: Part of the Triumvirate that takes over after Caesar's death, he's an experienced soldier, but not a great strategist or intellect. Ligarus: an aging sickly senator, he is eager to be part of the conspiracy and feel relevant in the world. Murellus: A tribune. A believer in following the rules, maintaining law and order, he's angered that people are leaving their jobs to celebrate Caesar. "JULIUS CAESAR"
(Woman/Non-Binary) A conspirator. In this version Cinna will have Metellus Cimber's lines to give him a larger presence in the play. He is a well- regarded, shrewd politician, smart and strategic. He holds a deep-rooted hatred for Julius Caesar partly because Caesar. ideally the same ethnicity as Cinna. "JULIUS CAESAR"
(Woman/Non-Binary) Lucius -- Brutus' young servant who follows him to war. Inexperienced but loyal, he will be the one who helps Brutus to take his life. Sings a song and plays an instrument TBD but most likely a guitar. Cinna the Poet -- is mistaken for Cinna. Ideally the same ethnicity as Cinna the conspirator "JULIUS CAESAR"

Magdalena is the put-upon, caretaking older sister of Quijano. She is at the end of her rope. Perla is an old dance-hall girl, a dangerous drunk who finds her heart of gold. "QUIXOTE NUEVO"
Antonia is the smart, positive, loving niece of Quijano and daughter of Magdalena. She’s smarter than this one-horse town but loves her uncle and his books and enjoys looking after him. Inez is the teenage daughter of the Castillo’s, spoiled and self-involved – very into Tik Tok "QUIXOTE NUEVO"
But can play both older (40s) and younger (a girl), female-identifying Dr. Campos is Quijano’s therapist. She is a practical, atheistic problem solver. Dulcinea appears in many forms: as a teenage chola, as a little girl puppet, as a large puppet. Puppetry skills are useful, though not necessary "QUIXOTE NUEVO"
Rosario is the owner of Rosario’s Bar & Karaoke – she’s tough, grounded, you don’t want to mess with her, but she’s ultimately warm. She’s the Alpha female of that space. Juana is Manny’s wife – she’s a little ditzy and a lot in love with her husband. Juana is best served by an excellent comedienne. "QUIXOTE NUEVO"
Padre Perez: a man of God with a good heart. Big Man with Belt/Border Patrol Cop: these roles require an imposing figure and a terrific sense of humor and play "QUIXOTE NUEVO"
Bruno: Rosario’s husband, a tough guy, earthy, grounded, but ends up inspired by Quijano. Young Quijano appears first as a small puppet then as a large puppet.
