Open Roles for a Short Film "Psychopomp"
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Casting three actors for a short film called "Psychopomp". Please, see the details below. About the project: Synopsis: "Psychopomp" is a short film about a man who becomes addicted a drug which may allow him to visit the afterlife. Rate: Non-Union. No pay as this is a self funded project, but gas and food provided. Additional information: Location: Leslieville area. Dates: Exact dates TBD, but 5-6 shoot days towards the end of summer. Reynard is an experimental noise musician who relishes in his own pretentiousness. He loves his live-in girlfriend Marianne but harbours resentment that she might become more successful than him (even though he claims to not crave public recognition for his music). He works at a bar with his friend and sometimes dealer Sherry, but is oblivious about her feelings towards him.
Marianne is an ambitious ballerina that has risen through the ranks of the National Ballet of Canada, and has now been offered the principal role in Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Marianne and Reynard are in a relationship, have been living together a few years. Marianne is sarcastic with Reynard — but also extremely kind hearted and trusting. However, she harbours a deep sadness, as she feels Reynard belittles her artistic practice and wishes he could be more supportive.
Sherry works at the same bar as Reynard. She’s a punk with a heart of gold. She sometimes deals pills and powders on the side to supplement her somewhat meager income from the bar. She has been secretly harbouring romantic feelings towards Reynard. After the death of Marianne, she has been trying to support him emotionally and cover shifts for him at the bar.
