About the project: The film is based on Puccini's Humming Chorus and centers around Alzheimer's and the power of music to recall memories. The film will debut on the festival circuit seeking distribution. Morgan Middleton (writer and creator), Kyle Niezgoda (executive producer), and Charlie Driscoll (director of photography) won a significant amount of laurels on the short film they produced in 2022. Esther is a vivacious, fun, and spontaneous woman. Her lively personality comes across without having to do much. As the years go by and she goes through life, she attacks everything with love, optimism and happiness. She is truly the light of her husband’s life. Must be able to move and have some dancing ability.
Johnny is suave, romantic, supportive, and the foundation of his family. He is always there for Esther and can tell what she needs just by looking into her eyes. As Johnny and Esther go through married life, he is always there for the big moments and always by her side. Must be able to move and have some dancing ability.
Johnny’s wife for over 55 years. She now suffers from moderate-stage Alzheimer’s. As her condition deteriorates, her days consist of sitting listlessly in her favorite chair and sometimes nodding her head to music.
Person of color, gray/white hair or bald. Has been married to Esther for over 55 years. He moves a little slower than in previous years due to age, but he’s well enough to serve as Esther’s caregiver. His love and devotion to her is unending though sometimes she does not know who he is. Johnny will try anything and everything to make his wife remember him and their days together — if even for a second.
