Naturally quiet and wry, his discovery of massive financial fraud scuttles his plans to keep his head down and live a small life. He finds himself in an agonizing battle between his conscience and his well-justified fear of speaking out.

An American investor living in Moscow. Ambitious and slick, with a chip on his shoulder for all the finance bros who come from privilege. Wants to make his money and get back to America. Tries to hide his striving behind bravado, but his intensity gives him away. Doubles as DIRECTOR/VITALY (the third friend in SEMA & ANDREI’s trio, and definitely the beta member)/NEWS PERSONALITY.

A young woman from Chechnya. Mordant humor carries trauma. Her rage burns cold, not hot. A fighter. Challenges Raya to see her clearly. Speaks in a way that is poetic and disorienting, but not lyrical – bending ordinary language to try to make it express the horror she has experienced. Ideally someone who seems both physically strong and quite young. Doubles as TATIANA/CREW MEMBER/CLERK.
