Actors Needed for One Act Jamboree
Auditions for One Act Jamboree. In need of actors. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the details below. About the project: "Player of the Week": You can run from your past, but you can't hide from it. *Please note: participants in this show will need to be comfortable with stage weaponry.* "The Heart-to-Heart": An English professor confronts a student she suspects is having an affair with her boyfriend. "La Vie en Rose and Rhys": Laura and Sam, a happily married couple, find an unexpected package in the mail: a play from a long forgotten person in Sam's life. Reading through the script brings moments of fun and nostalgia, and one shocking surprise. *Please note: participants in this show will need to be comfortable kissing their scene partner.* "Lox": The Sunday morning line at a Lower East Side bagel shop highlights the tragedy behind a seemingly straightforward conversation. "Sugar": Lilia is startled when her new neighbor Jaden knocks on her door and asks to borrow sugar. But Jaden has an urgent ulterior motive which has nothing to do with sugar, and everything to do with Lilia. "Some Sort of Animal": When two friends, one from the city and one from the county, are trapped on the side of the highway in the middle of the night - they have to put their brains together to figure out how to get out of there. *Please note: participants in this show will need to be comfortable handling stage weaponry.* "The Legend of Cake Mama Lives On": Deb “Cake Mama” Jones has become an overnight viral sensation thanks to a local food blogger. Her famous cheesecake recipe is taking TikTok by storm. A celebrity even wants to hire her to make their wedding cake. One problem…she may not have actually originated the cheesecake recipe. Will social media prove “senior-friendly”? Or will her mea culpa get her canceled? "Hamlet, Man Interrupted": The play opens with Hamlet believing he is attending a rehearsal, only to be surprised that the audience is already in attendance. The Director then informs him to only perform the “To be or not to be” soliloquy, since that is what the audience came to see. Through the play Hamlet struggles between classical theatre and the Director’s “modern-day” ideas, and through comedic events is continuously interrupted causing more frustration until he finally snaps at the curtain call. "All This and the Kitchen Sink Play, Too": A young city couple renting a room in a rural community find themselves in the middle of a "kitchen sink drama". Though they're mostly oblivious to all their host family is going through. Additional info: The audition form & materials are attached. Rehearsals TBD by each individual director/cast. Show dates: July 25 - 28, 2024. If you are interested, please apply.
