"Little Shop of Horrors" The Musical Needs Cast

About the project: Little Shop of Horrors is a horror comedy rock musical with music by Alan Menken and lyrics and a book by Howard Ashman. The story follows a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is loosely based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour". Additional info: No experience necessary. What to prepare: please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song. Please bring sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist. No recorded tracks or a cappella. Auditions will also include: - Singing songs from the show - Cold readings from the script - you do not need to prepare anything in advance. - Dancing/movement - Please dress for movement & be ready to play. Callbacks: May 9 from 7:30pm - 10pm Rehearsals: they will rehearse 3-4 days per week (not all actors will be needed at all rehearsals). Bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour's life. She has poor self-worth and education, but a sweet and vulnerable demeanor. Range: Bottom G#3 - Top D5
An actor/vocalist located offstage. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best. Range: Bottom G2 - Top G4
An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour. Range: Bottom G2 - Top G4 NOTE: The actor who plays Orin will also play Berstein, Mrs. Luce, Snip, & Patrick Martin, in Act 2.
