Acting Audition for "Roost" Film
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Casting actors to portray roles in "Roost" film. More details are below. About the project: Working at a movie theatre for little above minimum wage and living in an apartment with a roommate he barely knows, James is very stuck in his monotonous, repetitive, life. This changes when James begins to notice the flight pattern of the crows in his neighborhood. Each night, it is their instinct to fly back to their roost; each night, they know where they are going. Becoming increasingly aware of this, James slowly starts to see the movement and the life all around him. Even though he has been dissociated and stagnant, life continues to move; it is as if he is waking up to the world. Rate: Non union. This is a volunteer project. James is a twenty-something movie theatre employee. Working for little above minimum wage and living in an apartment with a roommate he barely knows, James’ life feels cyclical, directionless, and self-contained. Initially very focused on small details of things, James slowly becomes more attuned to the surrounding world–-and the life that fills it as the story progresses.
Mid-30s, with slightly matted hair and fading lipstick, Laura falls asleep in a movie theatre after a long day at work. Later, she is woken up by James. In her life, James is an insignificant character just another person existing alongside the rest.
Tom is your classic twenty-something college boy. He goes to the gym every evening, parties on the weekends, and spends time with his friends. These parts of his life however, all exist outside of the apartment he shares with James. Within this apartment, Tom goes about the mundane parts of his life. He can’t seem to connect with James, but tries his best to make conversation and break the awkward barrier.
