5,10” or taller with a slender or athletic build. The main antagonist of our film, the killer is an intelligent, manic, disturbed young man who hunts his victims with a crossbow and beheads them. Abandoned by his wealthy parents, living alone in their vast mansion, he becomes a warped and twisted version of himself, performing strange experiments on the bodies of his kills. However, a part of him is shocked and disgusted by his actions.
Male with dark, curly hair, 5,8” or shorter with a slim build. Spoof is one of the protagonist’s best friends, and eventually a victim of the mysterious killer. He’s a drummer in a thrash metal band; drumming experience is a plus, but not required. Spoof is a friendly kid with a laid back attitude, and a somewhat naive attitude towards life. He’s loyal to his bandmates Bernie and Raul, and has high hopes for their musical future.
Marva is the chairwoman of a Narcotics Anonymous group which the protagonist Bernie attends, providing a stable and positive influence to recovering addicts after successfully kicking her own addiction to narcotics. She’s a straightforward and practical person with a big heart, and the desire to help others.
Ms. Luque manages a large commercial kitchen at an amusement park. She’s a tough woman with a raspy voice from years of cigarettes, and a ruthless attitude towards her employees, many of whom are impulsive, untrustworthy drug addicts. However, over the course of the story, we see a more sympathetic side to Ms. Luque.
Chantay is Ms. Luque’s assistant manager, chosen for her strong, calm demeanor, and blunt way of speaking.
5,8” or shorter. Fausto’s cousin, Poncio, is a successful drug trafficker; above all, Fausto wishes to join Poncio’s crew and earn some serious cash. However, Poncio doesn’t think Fausto has what it takes. As a result, Fausto has a chip on his shoulder and seeks opportunities to prove himself. He comes into conflict with another local dealer, Spoof, in his quest to impress his cousin.
5,10” or taller. Luis is Fausto’s most loyal friend. He doesn’t say much, but like Fausto he aspires to join Poncio’s crew and make some serious money. He’ll do anything necessary to achieve this goal, acting as Fausto’s muscle and bodyguard.
Sunny is a prostitute who works for the violent and unpredictable pimp Sylvester. She’s been on the streets since she was 14 years old, and has developed a cynical attitude towards the business. She’s good at what she does and has no illusions about her work - she plays the game to her advantage, and hopes to save enough money to someday start a new life.
Jasmine is a less experienced prostitute who is being tutored in the business by Sunny. She too works under Sylvester, but is generally less wise and experienced than Sunny.
Tall and broad, not necessarily lean, but strong and athletic with shaggy hair. Sylvester is a crude and violent man who became involved in the sex trade after working for many years as a truck driver, during which he learned the business from a customer’s perspective. He keeps his women in line through violence and intimidation. Has a bit of a ‘redneck’ vibe.
Edgar is a retired carpenter with dementia, cared for by his grandson Raul, with whom he shares his home. Edgar spends most of his time watching TV with his pet dog Che, and has few lines. We’re definitely open to casting a non-actor for this part, if you know anyone who might enjoy appearing in a movie
Sonia is a prostitute who was coerced into the business by her boyfriend, Sergio. She is deeply in love with Sergio, and doesn’t consider herself to be a prostitute. Everything she does, she does because Sergio tells her to. She believes they will soon be married and start a family, once she’s earned enough money to begin their new life together.
Ronnie is a deadbeat who lives at home with his mother, Ada. Ada dotes on him and thinks he can do no wrong, therefore Ronnie feels very secure in his position and has no desire to change. He comes into conflict with his cousin Bernie, the protagonist of our story, after he steals Bernie's guitar.
Opal works for the Lifeline Diversion Program, which gives first offenders a second chance at the straight and narrow. She’s a jaded bureaucrat who acts as a case worker to a large number of unreliable criminals, including our protagonist, and has a cynical attitude towards her work. Opal is not an unkind woman, but deep down she knows that most of her ‘clients’ will never change their ways, and puts minimal effort into her job.
Slim build. Blanca works as a newscaster for a local station, focusing on current events and sensational crime stories. She’s an intelligent and well spoken woman with a professional demeanor, and a good broadcast voice. She has an instinct for stories which will shock and horrify her well-off, suburban audience.
Michael is one of Blanca’s fellow broadcasters, appearing with her in one scene. He’s a good looking and well spoken man with a nice broadcast voice.
Danny is Brandon ‘Spoof’ Kalani’s older brother, appearing in one scene, when he’s questioned by the police after Spoof is murdered. Danny is frustrated with the officers, who interrogate him like a criminal on the night of his kid brother’s death.
Mona is Danny’s fiance, and suspects that the protagonist, Bernie, may be partly responsible for Spoof’s death.
Teresa is Brandon ‘Spoof’ Kalani’s mother, who is shown grieving after his murder. The role includes no dialogue, but is very emotionally intense.
2 Samoan men, tall and heavyset with shaggy hair. The Samoan Pimps intimidate and assault one of the lead characters after they learn he’s asking questions about their business.
Experience playing police officers, or a good mustache, is a plus.
