"Something Rotten" Musical Looking for Dancers
Seeking performers for the show "Something Rotten". Please see the details below. About the project: Buddy Hobbs, a young orphan child, mistakenly crawls into Santa Claus’ bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. After discovering the baby, Santa and his elves decide to raise the child as an elf. Years later, Buddy finds out that he’s actually a human being and, at Santa’s prompting, heads off to New York City in search of his father, Walter Hobbs. Faced with the harsh reality that Walter is on the naughty list and his son, Michael, doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his birth family and help New York City remember the true meaning of Christmas. Additional info: The first hour will be Movement and Dance. The second hour will be Singing and the third hour will be for reading. What to Prepare: Acting: Directors will be doing cold reads from the play. You are encouraged to prepare a short comedic or classical monologue to showcase your prepared abilities. There will also be a few improv exercises to showcase your ensemble work and comedic timing. Vocals: Please bring a prepared, one to two-minute cut of a song highlighting your range and expression. Musical Theatre or Comedic pieces are encouraged but not required. Please bring your own accompaniment track. It must be either on a thumb drive or your phone. There will be no capella auditions. Dance: The dance portion of the audition will include basic movement and learning and “performing” a short combination. Please wear athletic/movement clothing and shoes.
