Actors Job for “Parallel Lives” Proof-of-Concept
Casting call for a proof-of-concept short for award-winning feature screenplay, “Parallel Lives” (in conjunction with the upcoming OIF challenge). Seeking cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the details below. About the project: Parallel Lives is a horror/drama centering around the stigma surrounding mental illness. There are two central characters, and alternate versions of them, whose lives become strangely interconnected. The dream-like atmosphere fraught with tension will leave you questioning what, if anything, is real. Rate: All positions are unpaid as of now (low pay possible depending on funding), but you will be first up for consideration for the paid feature shoot. Additional info: Dates are TBD depending on availability, shooting for sometime in May-June. Shooting: 2-3 days. TW: language, self-harm. When applying, please include resumes, headshots, and reels. If you don’t have a reel, recent self-tapes are necessary for speaking roles. Directors will be casting extra/featured roles off of materials alone. VO roles can work from home if they already have a sound-proofed setup.

(LEAD): needs to be able to play both 19 and 30 years old. This is a very emotional role, so a very strong actor is needed. Alan (30s) is a failed writer who has lost everything, and now only cares about numbing his pain. Danny (19) is a psychopathic kidnapper seen in a flashback scene. A true challenge for any actor.
(SUPPORTING): Alan’s older brother - a shrewd businessman who has given up on his mentally ill brother. He is manipulative and judgemental, but often hides his true nature behind a friendly facade.
(SUPPORTING, 1-2 lines): A beautiful bar-goer that flirts with Alan. (no kissing or nudity or anything!)
(VO, 1 line).

(FEATURED): Leads Alan to his fate. A plus if you have your own scrubs.
(FEATURED): Oversees the group therapy session. A plus if you have your own lab coat.
