Singing Opportunities in "Cabaret" Production

Host at the Kit Kat Club, German accent a gender-nonconforming-presenting, exuberant figure; comfortable with being close to the audience; dark, comedic, sinister, vulgar…yet lovable; requires a strong presence that is playful and mysterious. Must act, sing (some in German), move well, and be comfortable with bawdy/suggestive. staging/choreography. Vocal range top: C#5.

Lead. A British cabaret singer at the Kit Kat Klub, a quirky character who comes across as flighty, yet at times struggles with knowing the darkness of the reality of her life as a cabaret performer; comfortable with stage movement and light dance; speaks with a British accent. Vocal range: low A to high C, soprano, strong belt.

Lead. An American novelist and English teacher traveling to Berlin; presented as a closeted gay man exploring his sexuality; comfortable with stage movement and light dance; speaks with an American accent. Vocal range: low A to high E, tenor.

A landlady who rents rooms to Cliff, Sally, and several other characters in her large flat. She is alone and is resigned to her place in life, but secretly longs for companionship. She is very critical of some people while looking the other way with others; comfortable with stage movement and light dance (waltz). MUST act and sing well; comfortable with moments of intimacy. Vocal range top: A-flat4. Vocal range low: D3.

A Jewish fruit shop owner with a German Accent who falls in love with Fraulein Schneider; sweet, lovable, and adoring; heartbreakingly naïve about the political turmoil in Germany. Must act and sing well; comfortable with stage movement, light dance (waltz), and moments of intimacy. Vocal range top: high F Vocal range low: low G.

Supporting. Another of Fraulein Schneider’s roomers, she earns money by offering favors to sailors, presentation of the character should exhibit a strong sexual comfort and commanding nature; comfortable with stage movement; speaks with a German accent. Vocal range: low A flat to high F, alto/mezzo.

Kit Kat Klub waiters and patrons and various features; seeking strong singers in all voice parts; should be comfortable with portraying free in gender depictions; features (Bobby, Victor, “Tomorrow Belongs to Me,” etc.) will be drawn from this group; excellent dance skills required.
