About the project: “Braids and Bows” follows the journey of teenager Evelyn-Grace as she grapples with the restrictive expectations of her conservative upbringing within a church community. Caught between her mother's rigid standards and her own yearning for individuality, Evelyn-Grace finds solace and friendship in Amira, a vibrant and free-spirited classmate. "Braids & Bows" is a poignant coming-of-age story that explores the complexities of adolescence, the search for identity, and the power of friendship to transcend societal barriers. Set against the backdrop of a conservative church community, the film celebrates the journey of self-discovery and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of conformity and prejudice.
